Robert Deveaux named Executive Director of le Conseil des Arts de Chéticamp

Chéticamp, NS, May 30, 2025  – Le Conseil des Arts de Chéticamp welcomes Robert Deveaux as its new Executive Director. Deveaux has been working in the arts and culture sector locally and regionally for over thirty years as an artist, volunteer, coordinator, ambassador and leader.

Deveaux joins the Conseil des Arts with strong connections to the arts sector, having recently been named the 2024 recipient of the prestigious Prix Grand-Pré which is awarded by Arts Nova Scotia in recognition of an individual's dedication to Acadian arts and culture. He also brings to his new role an understanding of living and working in the arts. As a professional musician, chanteur et violoniste he has performed and toured locally and internationally with some of the most well-known Cape Breton Celtic musicians, while also managing events and pursuing his passion for collecting, protecting and archiving a personal collection of hundreds of old traditional Acadian songs. His latest artistic endeavour earned him coveted l’ADISQ and Prix Opus award nominations in Quebec’s music scene for his collaborative album Art Populaire with Nicolas Boulerice and Olivier Demers. 

“My life’s work has been rooted in artistic sharing and cultural exchange, whether as a musician, tradition bearer, volunteer or event coordinator,” says Deveaux.  “This new role is a good match with my passion for cultural and artistic preservation, and I look forward to carrying on the torch.”
